All-cause mortality at age 1-14 years in

Belgium: 1841-2006

Graph showing all-cause mortality at age 1-14 years in Belgium since 1841

Comment: The two years with especially high mortality rates are 1849 and 1866. In both years the mortality rate was higher in girls than boys, as was the case for every other year between 1841 and 1887, and for most years between 1888 and 1912. No mortality data are available for the 1914-18 period of German occupation.

Method: Mortality rates were downloaded from the Human Mortality Database (see www.mortality.org or www.humanmortality.de) on 4 December 2009. The plotted lines connect unsmoothed values.
